Oh the age of the Tasty cooking video. An incredible meal is created in all of 2 and a half minutes. It makes cooking look so easy!
In fact, my husband once joked, “Why does it take you so long to make these meals when the Tasty people can do it in less than 3 minutes?” To which I return a snarky glare and restart the video after getting behind in the recipe for the hundredth time.
I’ve got to hand it to Buzzfeed, their Tasty content is quite popular. It’s the new Pinterest of cooking, and my Facebook feed is constantly torturing me with the newest delicious recipes.
While I grew up in a family with a fairly regular meal schedule of meatloaf Monday’s and porkchop Tuesdays, Ryan grew up with more meal variety. So I’m constantly on the lookout for new recipes to keep him happy and well-fed. I jumped on the Tasty train a few months ago and haven’t looked back.
I’ve tried at least two dozen of the recipes, but only a handful of them have made it into my monthly meal rotation. Here are my top five.
This is a cheat! It’s not a Tasty video, but it’s a great recipe.
I’ve actually had 1, 2, and 3 this week already. Delicious!
Tasty Pro Tips:
- Halve the recipe unless you’re cooking for a family of 4+. I halved the meatball recipe Monday night and still have 2 days of leftovers for lunch.
- Watch the whole video through a couple of times. With all the starting and stopping, I’ve forgotten and accidentally skipped entire parts of the recipe. Makes for an interesting end product, but I don’t recommend going that route.
