My 10 Favorite Things About the Pacific Northwest

I spent 8 wonderful days with my husband in the Pacific Northwest in the beginning of June. I’m finally caught up on housework, family, work, pointless online news, etc., so I can tell you all about my ten favorite things about Portland, Seattle and the Oregon coast.

1. BEER.

Oh my goodness, the beer. It was so yummy. Here’s an overview of all of the breweries I got to visit:

2. Family

My husband’s mother, step-father, little sister, grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousin – you get the picture – live in Oregon and Washington. Because they live 2,000 miles away, we don’t get to see each other often, and they were the best part of my trip!

3. Food

Oh, the food. Delicious! So, so, good. If you’re ever on the Oregon Coast, go to Tidal Raves and get the Dungeness Crab Casserole. If you’re ever in Portland, you must visit Voodoo Donuts. Get a donut, any donut.

 4. Public Transportation

You can take it everywhere. Everywhere! Yes, most people still have cars, but many bike to as many local places as they can. Others take the trains. It’s awesome.

5. Hikes/Views

6. Environmentalism

Everyone recycles. It’s not even a question. It’s the best.

7. Architecture

Breathtaking. The outside is even better.

8. Everyone is athletic.

Nike is there. Adidas is there. Everyone is in shape. They made me feel so lazy in such a wonderful way.

9. Dogs!

Dogs are everywhere. Everyone has dogs, and they’re allowed everywhere.

10. Two hours from the beach

Two hours! From sand, waves, sea lions. And it’s so nice out there, that it’s not too hot or too cold in the water. Perfect beach nap weather.

If you’ve never been, you should to the PNW. It’s worth the 2,000-mile trip, I promise!
